5 tips for interior decoration of the house from SIP panels

Houses from SIP panels have long established themselves in many countries of the world, including Russia. In our country, SIP-technology, one of the types of panel construction, is better known under the name of "Canadian". The main advantage of this technology is the ability to build a full-fledged house in a very short time, which will cost much cheaper than a brick or aerated concrete. Perhaps there is a catch here, the interior decoration of the house from SIP panels should be made from strictly defined materials? Not at all, but some features are still worth considering.

No. 1. Pros and cons of sandwich panel houses

Construction process SIP panel houses reminds the designer: from previously prepared elements with spikes and grooves, walls, floors and partitions are easily assembled. The technology is widely used in both industrial and private construction.

SIP-panel consists of several layers: in the middle there is a heater, which is covered with sheet material on both sides. These can be sheets of steel, plastic, drywall or OSB panels. For the construction of private houses, the latter are mainly used. They are made of wood chips, and the pressing technology allows the production of sufficiently durable panels that can withstand any fasteners in the future.

As a heater, usually use:

  • polystyrenewhich is characterized by high resistance to moisture, excellent thermal insulation and durability. Of the minuses, the ability to maintain combustion;
  • mineral wool burning does not support, but is afraid of water, so much attention should be paid to the tightness of the entire structure;
  • polyurethane foam - The ideal option, the most common in Europe. It is warmer than mineral wool and polystyrene, is not afraid of water, is light in weight and does not burn well.

Between themselves sandwich panels are connected by a special lock.

Houses built from SIP panels have several advantages:

  • high speed of construction (2-3 months). Ideal for those families who want to quickly acquire their own housing;
  • You can proceed to the finishing work immediately after the construction of the house - wait until something dries or shrink passes;
  • reinforced for construction foundation not needed. This allows you to significantly reduce the cost of the project;
  • low thermal conductivity. Panels 160-170 mm thick can replace brick wall 2.42 m thick;
  • the panels fit perfectly and have almost no gaps. Such an exact fit was made possible thanks to the sophisticated equipment used in the production;
  • sheathing of the frame can be done in a matter of days, since the panels are connected by a spike-groove system. To eliminate the so-called "cold bridges", it is applied polyurethane foam;
  • the building is suitable for permanent residence, and the plates easily withstand temperatures from -60 to +600FROM;
  • You can build a house from OSB-boards at any time, whether in July or January. For example, it takes two to three weeks to erect walls.
  • Quality SIP panels from trusted manufacturers have been around for decades.

There were some cons:

  • flammability. In terms of combustibility, SIP panels belong to the same class as wood, but they burn more heavily.Those panels where polyurethane foam capable of self-extinguishing was used as insulation were best shown;
  • price. High-quality SIP panels are almost at the level of glued beams, but home construction it will still be cheaper than using a brick or gas block. Everything rests on weight and ease of assembly.

Often minuses also include a high probability damage to the material by rodents and non-environmental. This is nothing more than myths. Many years of experience in operating houses from SIP panels has proven that rodents do not start in them and do not eat walls. As for environmental friendliness, then when using high-quality material, the risks are minimal: responsible manufacturers make panels that emit formaldehyde several times less than the notorious chipboard. Scolding houses built using this technology can only be for the highest soundproofing, which, in principle, is characteristic of all panel houses. If this is critical, then additional soundproof materials.

No. 2. Features of interior decoration of houses from SIP panels

The internal cladding of walls, floors and ceilings in houses built from sandwich panels practically does not differ from the finishing work in other houses - this is one of the advantages of this accelerated construction technology. The most important nuance that should be considered before starting all work is the need for open installation of all communications. You cannot make strobes in panels. In practice, some violate this prohibition, which causes the durability of the structure, and numerous myths are born. If you don’t want wiring remained in sight, have to cunning and hide it behind the sheets drywall.

No. 3. Wall decoration in houses from SIP panels

Developers say that after all the facing works it will be difficult to guess what the house is actually built from. This is also confirmed by specialists in the decoration. You can wall the walls with almost any material, but nevertheless you need to know the nuances of using each of them.

For wall decoration, you can use the following materials:

  • drywall. This is the most popular option. There are several ways to mount it on the walls, it all depends on the goals. The first method is installation of drywall directly on the wall via screws and without frame. Thus, the sound insulation and fire resistance are increased, and the fragility of drywall is also negated. Minus - wiring will have to be laid open way, and many believe that this is unaesthetic. The second option is mount drywall in two layers: in the first, strobes are made for wiring and cables are laid, and the second layer is used for leveling. In this case, it is possible to achieve the most aesthetic result, and the fire resistance of the structure increases significantly - the walls can resist the fire for 1.5 hours. Another option is mount drywall on a metal or wooden frame. All wires, as well as air ducts and some pipes can be hidden behind drywall. True, for this you have to sacrifice usable space. After the installation of drywall, all the seams and the entry points of the screws are putty, after which you can proceed to the finish;
  • painting. The cheapest option for wall decoration - coating them with acrylic paint right on the surface OSB boards. At the same time, it is possible to preserve the relief of the walls and the entire area. You can also paint drywall. In this case, almost all fit types of paints. The best option is water-based paintshow themselves perfectly latex and acrylic paints. The color is chosen depending on your own preferences, and also taking into account the style of the interior, the size of the room and the orientation of the room relative to the cardinal points. One of the walls in the room can be highlighted in contrasting color to emphasize it;
  • wallpaper. Texture wallpaper can be glued right on the panel. In this case, it will be possible to save both time and money. This, by the way, is a common technique, but you have to put up with the open wiring installation. Wallpaper can be glued and on drywall. Its smooth smooth surface makes it possible to use any type of wallpaper with equal success. The cheapest option is paper wallpaperbut they are only suitable for bedrooms and living rooms. Vinyl and non-woven wallpaper cost a little more, but more hardy in terms of operation. Can also be used textile wallpaper, culletvoluminous wallpaper linkrust, cork and liquid wallpaper. Diversify the interior glowing wallpaper and photo wallpaper;
  • decorative plaster can only be applied on a carefully prepared surface. The joints of the plates are pre-covered with masking tape to avoid cracks. Then the grid is attached to the wall, after which you can begin to apply the first layer of the usual (not decorative) plasters. The evenness of the solution is necessarily controlled by level. The starting layer is cleaned with sandpaper and a second layer is applied on top. After it dries, you can begin to apply decorative plaster. This is an environmentally friendly and beautiful coating, and a variety of compositions allows you to achieve the desired visual effect. Universal called silicone plaster, showed itself well mineral. Depending on the filler, the type of the final surface can be smooth or embossed;
  • lining. Wooden lining can be used for walls and ceilings, it is mounted simply, it is desirable to use a frame. The material is different in surface type. If you want to imitate a wooden log house, then you can take block house lining. In any case, a wooden lining is beautiful and environmentally friendly. It will cost cheaper plastic lining, but it is better not to use it due to the increased combustibility, fragility and complete air tightness, which is critical for a home from SIP panels;
  • ceramic tile needed in kitchens and bathrooms. There are several approaches to installing tiles in houses from SIP panels. One of them offers to seal the joints of panels, lay a layer waterproofing, then mount the moisture-proof drywall, on top of which the tile is already attached. The second method involves mounting the tiles directly on the panel. They are pre-primed. Glue is applied both to a tile, and to a surface. This method is less reliable.

These are the main finishing materials that are used today for walls. However, as an alternative to wooden lining fit MDF panels and laminatethat can have any design. Some places can be finished artificial stone or soft wall panels.

Number 4. Finishing floors in the house from SIP panels

We note right away - any modern materials are suitable. On the first floors, some install an additional system warm floors.

The most popular options for flooring include:

  • natural woodwhich is represented massive board and piece parquet. This is an eco-friendly and safe coating that will make up a couple of wooden lining laid on the walls. Among the advantages are a warm surface and durability; of the minuses is the price and the need for special care;
  • parquet board - a cheaper analogue, consists of several layers of wood, but in terms of environmental friendliness it is almost not inferior to the massif. Appearance, assortment, installation are obvious pluses. Of the minuses, the fear of moisture and slightly less durability than wood;
  • laminate - an even cheaper option, it can imitate the pattern of any wood or stone, is easy to install, durable, but has a cold surface and gives loud sounds when something falls on the floor;
  • cork floor - natural warm and slightly springy coating that is not afraid of fire, does not attract dust, is characterized by high durability and wear resistance. Of the minuses, the price and fear of sharp objects;
  • ceramic tile used where it is important that the coating withstands the effects of moisture, temperature extremes and mechanical stress. This is a durable and aesthetic finish, but it has a cool surface and complicated installation;
  • linoleum - This is a hit among all floor finishing materials. Cheap, easy to install, warm, durable, and at the same time it can pretty well mimic both wood and stone. Of the minuses, there is only a high probability that after heavy pieces of furniture dents will remain on the coating;
  • stone floor and gender from porcelain tile. These are quite expensive finishes, although porcelain stoneware will cost, naturally, cheaper. Among the pluses are high strength, durability and resistance to any influences, of the minuses - the price and cold surface;
  • Self-leveling floors It will cost a lot, they are difficult to install and even more difficult to dismantle, but they allow you to make a monolithic coating, which can be absolutely any color and texture, decorated with shells or pebbles. You can use any image or even your own photo.

For tiles, porcelain tiles and bulk floors it is better to make concrete screed. An alternative is to lay mineral slab materials in one or more layers, previously waterproofing.

No. 5. Finishing the ceilings in the house of SIP panels

Smooth ceilings, obtained through the use of SIP panels, allow you to use the whole range of possible materials for decoration. Among the most popular options are:

  • painting. The ceiling can simply be painted without first hemming drywall. Here, as is the case with the walls, the original texture is preserved. Can cover all surfaces protective varnish and not bother, but the interior will come out peculiar;
  • drywall. On the ceiling, drywall is best fixed to the frame. In this case, it will be possible to hide all the cables leading to the lighting fixtures and organize a complex lighting scheme with chandelier and spotlights. You can hide behind drywall ventilation pipes. It remains only to putty the joints and places of attachment with screws, and apply any material you like: paint, wallpaper, plaster, etc. It comes out with a classic suspended ceiling;
  • wallpaper You can glue it directly on the plates, but better - on drywall. For the ceiling, the same range of wallpapers is suitable as for walls;wallpaper on the ceiling in the kitchen
  • stretch ceiling - universal option. This is the fastest way to equip the ceiling, dirty processes at least, and even options for textures and colors - for every taste: from glossy white to imitate the starry sky;
  • plaster also allows you to design the ceiling as you like: color and texture vary widely, as does the price;
  • rack metal ceiling refers to suspended structures, mounted on a frame, not afraid of moisture, allows you to create a spectacular backlight and hide communications, but it will fit into not everyone interior style;
  • wooden lining can boast all the advantages characteristic of suspension systems, in addition, it is environmentally friendly and beautiful, and will require regular care.

Use polystyrene tile in SIP-houses is not recommended. The point is not that it does not let air through - in a building constructed using this technology, a ventilation system is provided for this way. This tile is highly flammable, even though it is treated with flame retardants.

No wonder the whole civilized world is actively building houses from SIP panels. It is really fast, cheap and convenient, and you can use any materials for their decoration.
